Sapna “The Art of Storytelling” Creators Camp
June 28-July 2
Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Does your child love to tell stories? Do they dream of one day making a movie or writing a novel?
In this week-long camp, kids in grades 4-8 have the opportunity to explore the art of storytelling. This curriculum, created as a collaboration between Pixar Animation Studios and Khan Academy, uses technology to engage and then teaches valuable writing and thinking skills, while also providing a way for the student to express their ideas and emotions.
Kids have the opportunity to practice skills in writing, drawing, presenting, collaborating, listening, giving and receiving feedback, speaking, and editing their work. When this type of curriculum is paired with a dynamic teacher and peer collaboration, exciting things begin to happen! This course culminates with a completed Storyboard + Storyreel (video/podcast) to keep and share with family and friends.
(MAX 12 STUDENTS)
Sapna “Getting to Know the Masters” Art Camp
July 12-July 16
Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm
In this week-long camp, kids explore the art and life of eight master artists. This curriculum was developed by Ms. Jo using the Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists book series by Mike Venezia. Starting each day with one of these biographies sets the stage for the students to explore each artist's life and their various art forms.
Campers will read books, watch videos and research these masters, then complete art activities with teacher guidance while collaborating with peers. This course gives students the opportunity to practice skills in painting, drawing, reading, and researching, as well as using various artist tools and equipment.
The camp concludes with a ‘gallery opening’ as our space is transformed into an art gallery featuring our camper's masterpieces.
Day One - Portraits with Picasso + Kahlo
Day Two - Action Painting with Pollock
Day Three - Watercolors with O'Keefe + Monet
Day Four - Photography with Lange + Adams
Day Five - Sculpture with Degas
