Circle of Creation session offers leadership lessons

Amid a busy week of World Cup watch parties and summer break activities, community members gathered at the link at Nocatee for the fourth session in the Circle of Creation series, “Leadership and the Long View in the Age of Disruption.”

Gurpreet Sania Misra, co-founder of the link and Sapna Foundation, opened the evening by thanking attendees for their time and expressing her wishes for the session.

Circle of Creation, a transformative seven-session series empowering women to elevate their personal and professional lives, welcomed Indie B. Bollman, MBA, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, as this week’s guest speaker.

Bollman is a leader with 30-plus years of executive experience in organizational development and Human Resources. She gave a session that included her detailed experiences as a leader. After leaving the corporate world in 2023, she said she found a new passion in teaching others.

“My favorite part was leading people and helping them grow and develop. I loved it,” she said.

Throughout the presentation, Bollman emphasized that while leadership has become more challenging in recent years, today’s obstacles are not unique. Workforce shifts, remote work, economic uncertainty and artificial intelligence are only the latest examples of disruptions leaders have always faced.

“Disruption's not new... it has always been a part of the environment,” she said, adding that successful leaders prepare both themselves and their teams to navigate uncertainty together.

She encouraged attendees to view disruption as an inevitable part of business rather than something to fear, drawing on her experience as a longtime corporate leader and entrepreneur.

Building on her discussion of leading through disruption, Bollman outlined five leadership shifts she believes help organizations navigate uncertainty while building stronger teams. She emphasized that effective leaders don’t need all the answers — they need honesty, trust and a willingness to keep learning.

Attendees then completed an interactive worksheet activity that asked them to share personal experiences and work together to theorize solutions.

Bollman reminded the group that “long-term thinking consistently outperforms panic,” leaving them with a resounding message to apply to their entrepreneurial ambitions going forward.
